Ben on stage

Every spring, the local theatre group stages a play in the village hall. This year, they decided on a play based on an old local legend about a king and his three daughters. Ben, who had never acted before, was cast as the king. The rehearsals had been going on for two months when the actress playing the youngest daughter broke her leg. Luckily, Emma, who knew the whole script by heart, agreed to take her place.

The set was painted by a local artist, and Ben's grandmother made all the costumes. On the first night, Ben was so nervous that he nearly missed his first cue. What surprised him most was how quickly the audience started laughing. The hall was full every night, and people are still talking about the show.

A critic from the local paper wrote that Emma's performance was the best thing in the play. He also said that the plot was easy to follow, although some scenes were a bit too long. Ben wishes he had started acting years ago. Next year, the group would like to write its own play, and Emma has already been asked to direct it.
