Lena geht aufs Gymnasium in Köln. Lena goes to grammar school in Cologne. Heute hat sie eine Prüfung in Mathematik. Today she has an exam in maths. Sie hat gestern viele Übungen gemacht, weil sie Angst hatte. Yesterday she did a lot of exercises because she was afraid. Der Unterricht beginnt um acht Uhr. Lessons start at eight o'clock. Zuerst schreibt die Klasse ein Diktat. First the class writes a dictation. Danach machen die Schüler eine kurze Pause. After that the pupils have a short break.
Die Prüfung ist nicht leicht, aber Lena macht nur einen Fehler. The exam isn't easy, but Lena makes only one mistake. Am Nachmittag korrigiert ihr Lehrer die Prüfungen. In the afternoon her teacher corrects the exams. Am Freitag bekommt Lena eine sehr gute Note. On Friday Lena gets a very good mark.
Ihr Vater ist Ingenieur und arbeitet viel. Her father is an engineer and works a lot. Am Abend kommt er spät aus dem Büro, denn er hatte eine lange Besprechung. In the evening he comes back late from the office, because he had a long meeting. Lena erzählt ihm, dass sie die Prüfung bestanden hat. Lena tells him that she has passed the exam. Er freut sich sehr. He is very pleased.
