The present: more verbs that change their vowel
The present of vowel-changing verbs met at A2: e → i or ie (du vergisst, er stiehlt), a → ä with a stem in -t (er hält, er rät) or without (er schlägt, du wächst), and the same change in separable verbs (er sieht aus, du nimmst ab).
In some verbs, the e of the stem changes to i or ie with du and with er, sie, es.

Formation
- In vergessen, werfen and brechen, the e changes to i: du vergisst, er vergisst, du wirfst, er wirft.
- brechen has du brichst, er bricht.
- In stehlen, the e changes to ie: du stiehlst, er stiehlt.
- After -ss, the du ending is only -t, so du vergisst and er vergisst have the same form.

- Hält der Bus am Bahnhof?Does the bus stop at the station?
Formation
- fallen has du fällst, er fällt.

- With ihr, the vowel does not change and the -e- is added: ihr haltet.
Use
- halten means to hold. It is also the usual verb for a bus or a train that stops at a station.
Difference from English
