On Sunday morning, Léa and Tom were walking round the neighbourhood flea market. On a table, among old lamps, Léa saw a big round mirror. It was made of golden metal, with a pretty flower pattern all around it. The seller explained to them that the mirror had been made around 1920. It was a little damaged, but the glass was still nice and smooth.
Tom, for his part, found the mirror enormous and a bit old-fashioned. "It would be perfect in our hall, which is too narrow and too dark," said Léa. The mirror wasn't expensive, and they carried it to the car, laughing.
At home, Léa gently cleaned the metal with a little wax. It still smelled a little musty, but it was shiny again. In the evening, Tom stood it against the wall, opposite the window. With the mirror, the hall was at last lit by the light from the garden. Tom said that it looked twice as big and much brighter.
