Two years ago, Sophie had a dream: to open a bookshop in her small town. Her friends thought the project was going to fall through before the end of the year. Mais Sophie voulait réussir à tout prix. But Sophie wanted to succeed at all costs. She took charge: she found a shop, spoke to the bank and saw to the building work.
In the first months, she had to face a lot of difficulties. Few customers came, and more than once she felt like giving up. » Her brother Louis told her: "It's no use worrying, your efforts will end up bearing fruit." She organised readings for children on Wednesdays, and that idea made a difference. At the end of the winter, she finally got on top of her money problems.
Today, the bookshop is doing well, and Sophie has customers who come back every week. She has had her ups and downs, but she has learnt her lesson: you must never give in too soon. "If I had listened to my friends, I would have missed out on the greatest adventure of my life," she says, laughing. Her friends now admit that they were in the wrong. Louis is proud of her, and she may open a second bookshop next year.
